The basic knowledge you need to have is that there exists an exclusion zone, where, for unknown reasons, strange, illogical phenomena occurs, generally called anomalies.
In this zone, mysterious and valuable artifacts also appear. These artifacts are collected by people tresspassing into the exclusion zone, smuggled out and sold to the highest bidder. These people are called stalkers.
